He turned his bedroom light back off. “And you’re sure you won’t use the bathroom? I don’t mind.” He gestured one more time towards the bathroom.
“No. I’m okay”. Adara replied, not looking up at him.
“I can show you how to lock it.” He spoke. Adara didn’t glance at him. He pointed at the bathroom. Then he moved inside, beckoning. “Look, I’ll show you.” Adara didn’t know what to say, so she stayed silent, looking at the bathroom door. “You have to come inside.” He said, gesturing to her from inside the bathroom. “I know there isn’t much space.”
She stepped inside, and Dean began to shut the door. Adara could feel her heart rate speed up. Her skin felt tingly, all she could smell was his cologne, and all she could hear was their breathing. All she could feel was the energy and body heat coming off him. They were alone in a cramped space. The car had been different; she could see the world outside the windows. But there was only a tiny, frosted window in this room. Adara felt like she would faint. She tried to pay attention as he showed her how to lock the door. But her brain was screaming nonsense.
After showing her twice, he looked at her. “You try it.” He spoke.
She blinked a couple of times and did a couple of deep breaths, trying to catch her breath. But he was looking at her, and she could smell him and hear his breathing. She tried, but she couldn’t shake the feeling they were the only two people left in the universe.
