The Day the Skyfel: Shadows of the Past

The edge of a building beyond them exploded outward; the sound of it shook Sophia’s car violently. It was an extraordinary remarkable sight as the debris spread outward in slow motion; Sophia’s only thought was, “Isn’t that amazing.” For a second, they were the only words she had in her mind.
A second later, Sophia saw a man in the distance tumble. The flying debris had struck him and knocked him off his feet. Sophia fought shock and denial. The scene before her was not occurring. She was Hallucinating. Someone was filming a movie here today. Sophia had missed the notification. Things like this did not happen in everyday life. If it was not a movie set, then she was going crazy. Her mind was playing tricks on her. She might have fallen to sleep, and now she must be dreaming.
She heard another boom and deep rumble coming from her left. She looked. Dust was rising from where the parking garage had stood. It must be a movie set that had been a controlled demolition. How could a hundred vehicles and the people moving about within the structure have been crushed? All of them were buried under the concrete in an instant. However, Sophia understood now. She looked up at the sky, wondering if the bombs had fallen from a bomber airplane. She saw nothing overhead.
She wasted no time. Turning her key that was still in the ignition and yanking off her earbuds, she started the vehicle. Someone was blowing up UC Davis, and she did not have time to decide who might be creating the destruction. She wanted out of there immediately. She quickly reversed her car back and out of the parking space.
