“So she is gone early?” Ana asked. She figured as much, but she wanted to get her mind off his eyes.
Leo nodded. He wanted to tell her about the paperwork. But he figured that he had told her enough already. “Oh yes, it took me a few minutes to get here. She left so early. I believe Julianne was outraged this morning and needed to get out the door. She had to make it to the courthouse by 8:30 am.” He smiled.
“Why was she angry? Nothing to do with me, I hope.” However, she did not discern how it could have been about her and not been fired by her.
Leo smirked. “I promise it has nothing to do with you. If you want to know, I’ll tell you.”
“Well, considering she is my,” she listened for a second and motioned Leo to close the door, “target,” she whispered the last word, “maybe you ought to tell me.”
“I can guarantee it had nothing to do with that either. I just happened to have Alfred give her the paperwork this morning, the divorce paperwork.” Leo grinned.
“Oh!” Ana felt stunned. But he had been talking about it repeatedly. Ana thought she ought to have comprehended.
“Yes, and she did not bother me, but Alfred sent me some details about what she said. She thinks I should want to stay married to her despite her infidelity and lack of physical contact. I kid you not; it has been two years since she let me kiss, hug or touch her. Do you want to know the date?” He inquired.
“Ah well,” Ana looked embarrassed. “If you want to tell me while I grab my shoes and phone.” And she turned and limped to the closet.
