“But they won’t let you come back to me. You know that. Your family has kept you in a cage your whole life, and they will put you right back in it as soon as they get you back inside the door.” He announced frustratedly. He knew it was too late, and she had made up her mind.
Then, she left his bed and returned to the living room for her clothes. She changed right in front of him, causing him additional biological distress as he caught a glimpse of all the parts of her physique that he wanted so badly to taste and kiss and retain by his side for all eternity.
He sat down on his sofa, chin in his hands, resisting the urge to pick something up, and hit himself over the head in hopes that he would forget the preceding few hours. It had worked for her. But soon, she was dressed and prepared to go to the mansion.
He felt he headed to the end of the world and that he was saying goodbye to her permanently as they sat across the road from her family’s mansion in the small visitor’s parking lot. It was just before 7 am, and the sun was about to rise above the eastern hills. “We could still go back to my place.” He mumbled. He wanted to beg her not to do it. But it felt wrong, too selfish and possessive. Adara had the freedom to do as she wished. He did not own her, and she was an adult. So very adult, he thought, thinking about the activities they had performed in his bedroom. Dean felt hot and looked away from her face.
“I have to do this. If it were just my mother and the housekeepers, I would not care. But Marshall has been like an uncle or father to me. I need to let Marshall know I’m alive and okay.” She explained, touching his arm. “I promise I won’t allow them to put me back in my box. I will come back to you.”
