He began to lay out pieces of paper on the table. They were diagrams of the body with lines pointing to distinct areas. “These are the implants.” He pointed. “The major ones are the charging port, the brain control, and the chest plate, but there are one hundred and fifty implants we have discovered. The Skycendelvins are biological androids, they appear human on the outside, but inside, they have so many mechanisms that they are more machine than organic. For example, the humanoid unit would stop functioning altogether without charging.”
He looked up for a moment. “Any question so far?”
Ana’s eyes were huge, and she felt like she was in shock. But she held out a shaking hand. “Do they put those implants in humans? They change us to them?”
Gerald could see Ana’s mother in her mannerisms. He sadly smiled as he had loved her mother. But Becca had not felt more than friendship for him. “Yes. They find a target and change them over time—unfortunately, Mrs. Turner is a primary host or ground zero for this particular scout.” He turned to Leo. “I am sorry.”
Leo shrugged. “It’s a scare, but I have accepted it.” He added. “Is Madeleine the scout?”
Mr. Abbott sat back in his seat, smirking a little. “Mr. Turner, if you had been on my team years ago, we wouldn’t be here now.” He shook his head.
He sighed and sat forward again. He shifted the papers around. Then he set out a few more sheets. “Yes. Madeleine is the origin. Mrs. Turner is host zero, or in Skycendelvin, the word translates to class Alpha. She and Madeline assembled the portal, and it is somewhere in the city. They are close to invasion. There are other scouts and hosts on the planet—nineteen total. There are three more in the USA, one in New York City, Chicago, and one in Los Angeles.”
