“On the Hill”

I didn’t see it coming. I was utterly distracted. I was watching Erik as he moved and talked to Levi. His shoulders were broad. And his forearms were thick. I was daydreaming about later when I felt better. I was daydreaming about when we could start fooling around.
But at one point, without warning, the driver-side door opened. I could see Erik. It wasn’t Erik. I jumped and looked into the driver’s seat. It was a man with a hoodie drawn over his face and sunglasses. And lots of tattoos were visible on his face and arms. My heart sank. There was only one person it could be.
“Stan!” I gasped.
He grinned at me, Showing his yellow teeth. “Hello, Miranda.” He said evilly.
Erik had left the keys in the car. They were electronic, so all Stan had to do was push the button. He was already making a button and putting the vehicle into gear. I was completely frozen. I should have undone my seat belt and jumped out of the car at that point. But I didn’t.
“Don’t.” I cried, I was crying by this point.
“ You’re mine.” He said and stepped on the gas.
But the second before he hit the gas, another door opened. It was the door behind me in the back seat, and it was Erik. He put one foot in, and Stan hit the gas, Erik pulled himself in, and the door slammed shut.
I only knew it was Erik because he let go of the door he grabbed my right arm around the side of the chair by the door and whispered into my right ear. “Miranda.” My body tingled.
Stan was speeding over the gravel and bumps with such force that the car was bouncing. But he seemed to sense the presence in the back seat because he looked back and saw Erik.
