“The Day the Skyfel: Ground zero”

“Let me get that.” He declared, pushing the door open, swiveling, and meeting her eye again.

Amanda returned his gaze but did not say anything and quickly walked towards the open door. But before she could pass through it, he put his arm out in front of her. “What is your name?” He inquired.

Amanda looked up at him in shock. He was not treating her like a household employee but more like a potential friend. It made her uncomfortable.

“Amanda,” she replied wide-eyed like a deer in headlights.

He smiled bigger. “Nice to meet you, Amanda. I am your boss, Leonard. But call me Leo.” He started to lower his arm and stick out his right hand forward like a handshake. But Mr. Turner paused and looked down at the dishes in her hand.

There was another shout from the hall. The door had never been closed, so the voice came clearly. “LEONARD.” Amanda jumped again. She glanced back behind her nervously, half expecting to see Mrs. Turner glaring at her.

Mr. Turner spoke in her ear. She swiveled to find him about twelve inches from her. “I’ve got to go. I’ll see you later, Amanda.” And he touched her on her left arm. Then he was gone racing towards the open door and his wife.
