Susu’s Rescue

Susie nodded, she nodded for thirty seconds. The tears had started and she could not stop them. Samuel felt horrible. But she was admitting to saying his name. There was someone else besides the man in the room. He glanced up at the man finally for the first time Today. The man was listening intently his eyes narrowed. But then Samuel thought of something. If his father had hurt Susie, maybe that was who she meant. He would risk it either way. All she had to do was say the word, and she couldn’t say it. Her nickname for him.

Samuel caressed her hand and squeezed it. He didn’t need the piece of paper inside her palm, but he didn’t want the guard to see it. He tried to think of a way it to bring up the nickname without alerting the guard. Slowly, the tears began to cease. And slowly she began to focus on him again. Her eyes were pleading, and he knew that she wanted to say it, but still, he had to ask.

“Susu,”  He said softly, “ You do remember what you used to call me, don’t you?”

She nodded, And her eyes were urgent. She Opened her mouth again. And this time she said it a little louder, sasa ma— samaa—” she was panting and she closed her eyes, and she breathed, “samara.”

Samuel’s heart stopped, she had gotten it out, or most of it out, that was close enough for him.  “Susie, its okay.” He said softly, “don’t push yourself too much. When I go,” he squeezed her hand, “when I walk out of the room, you will be able to relax finally.”

Susie’s eyes opened again. What did he mean? Did he mean that he would begin the attack when he left the room? She looked Back and forth between his eyes. He nodded slightly. She was sure that that’s what he meant, and it made sense. Jaxson said they were recording There were cameras she was sure. They probably were watching right now.
