Mindi’s mom watched him go, Disapproving.  But once he was out of sight she nodded to John and he allowed at the door to bang shut they turned together and mutually moved towards the bed.

“ alright dear, John is here now and I am sure he can make you see reason.”  She gave her brother a smile across the bed as he had approached on the left side.  But then she focused it back on her daughter, scrutinizing closely.

“He made you cry didn’t he!” She blurted out after a moment.

“ it wasn’t him it was a situation; we were talking mutually about something that happened to both of us,” Mindi replied curtly.

“And what is that?” her mom demanded, tilting her head a little.

“ I don’t know that any of that is your business.” Mindi said defiantly. Her mom was talking too loud, giving Mindi a headache.

 Her mother shook her head and looked over at John, disgusted.  “As you can see ever since Graham entered her life she has been nothing but unreasonable and foolish.”

John nodded and said darkly, “I see.”

“Mom! We are married,  It’s not necessary for me to share every aspect of my life with you, and very selfish for you to wish me to!” Mindi was already done with the conversation.

“Honey!”  Her mother said. “You are my only child. And besides that, I’m your mother. You’re supposed to be closer with me than anybody! And the fact that you have forsaken me for Graham is prosperous!”

“Mom! I think you should leave!” Mindi snapped

“Hold on a minute!” John spoke up, “I haven’t spoken!”

 Mindi and her mother both looked at him in surprise, almost as if they had forgotten he was there.

He continued, “ as I see it graham is only cause for contention in the family, it was his car you were driving, and his residence you were residing in!  I suggest quick eradication and divorce remedy the situation!”

“You will suggest nothing of the kind!” Mindi had heard enough; she struggled to face her uncle. “It is my life, not yours; you are entirely out of line by endeavoring to manipulate my life choices!”

“Listen to my child,” her mother was shocked, “I’ve lost her completely!” she put a hand on her mouth.

“No!” Mindi was furious. “You forced me to finally take a stand and propel you away before it’s too late!”

“It’s a shame,” John said, “really it is, such a waste!”

“I have had it!” Mindi shouted, and in that moment she was so angry she couldn’t see straight. She pointed where she thought the door was. “Both of you get out of my room! Now!!”

“Oh!” her mom was in tears now. “He has her in his clutches entirely! I cannot believe it!” she turned away and began to move towards the door.

Uncle John moves quickly towards her. “If I could suggest a doctor to evaluate her mental health?” he said in a stage whisper.

“You do that!” Mindi bellowed, “and I will throw my ice water at them when they come see me!” she wished more than anything she could stand up and slam the door after them. She was breathing hard and her heart was pounding in her ears. She was vaguely aware when the door shut behind them and she forced her body to relax and to go limp.
