The Day of Skyfel

Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. He knew there was only one chance to fire the weapon and Madeline was too far away to be confident about striking her on the first shot.  So, Leo opened his mouth and spoke.

“Hey, Madeline, can I ask you something? ” He had spotted some papers lying on the counter and had an idea. He hid the weapon in a fist.

Madeline looked at Leo.  “What is your question? ” She asked while scowling.

“I wanted to know if you could forge a signature. I needed Julianne’s signature. ” He sighed despondently.

Madeline stood, adjusting her outfit. “What are you talking about, human male? Stupid man, men are such idiots, no matter the planet. But human males have to be the most ridiculous. “

“Can I show you? ” He replied, letting go of Ana’s hand and pointing. “The papers are right over there. It will take just a second. “

Madeline glanced in the direction he pointed and sighed. “Okay. I will take a look. But only because I need to walk to that side of the room to watch the security tapes. ” She began navigating around the puddle.

“Can I step over there with you? ” Leo asked. “You told me not to move an inch. I don’t want to upset you. ” Leo added when Madeline’s flashing eyes fell on him.

Madeline had moved past the liquid. She glanced at Leo again. “Okay, hurry up and show me the papers. ” She instructed, waving a hand.

Leo hoped the weapon was pointing the right way. Madeline waited for Leo to approach and motioned again in the indicated direction. He paused a foot away facing her.

“Madeline, I am so sorry about Julianne—” he began. But Leo did not say anything else only lifted his hand slightly, moved a few fingers, and pressed the tiny bumps at the side of the weapon. Leo’s hand was less than six inches away from Madeline’s body.
