Open the door Let the sun in

“Lea, I love you. I need you. If you leave the world, I will want to go too.” He explained. For the first time, he could feel the tug of a death wish. Tears filled his eyes, but he blinked them away rapidly. “I know you are hurting emotionally. I know the things Blake did to you are twisting inside and creating havoc inside your brain. But you are the love of my life.” He felt a tear slip out and leaned forward to press his lips against her hands.

Lea gazed at Darren now. She marveled at hearing Darren speaking these things and was shocked at the tears that fell from his eyes. “You have to pull through, honey pie, or I will not be able to survive without you.” More tears slipped down his face and onto their conjoined hands.

Painfully, Lea pulled closer. She leaned forward till her head was touching his. She was weeping and suddenly understood why there was a need to improve. He loved her.

It wasn’t guilt or the existence of the baby that concerned him. It was her that was needed and loved. If she died, not only would it kill the baby, but Darren would also lose the will to live. But Lea was slipping in and out of reality. Could she stay with Darren without slipping away?

“Darren,” she said through the tears.” I will endeavor to get better. I promise. But sometimes, the negative feelings grow strong and take over. Please don’t leave me alone again. Please, don’t leave the room without me. I can’t control it.” She was trembling with fear.
