After the Rain
Buddy was getting impatient. He was leaning on my leg now. He was looking at my face expectantly hoping for attention. Finally, he decided to take things into his own paws. With a skilled leap he jumped on the couch next to me and bumped against my shoulder, knocking me to the left, right into Ben.
“Oh!” I cried out, trying to stop myself but landed right in Ben’s waiting arms. My foot and the ice he had just rested on the injury twisted with a jerk and the ice tipped from it, falling onto the coffee table. Ben had seen Buddy jump and cause the chain reaction and he had turned his body slightly, so that both has hands and arms were now around my body.
“Opps.” He replied. “Buddy! Naughty dog, shoo.” He had sat me back upright, but his right arm was around my shoulders. He was waving his left hand at Buddy, trying to get him to go back on the floor.
“He’s okay.” I said gasping, clutching my fists up to my chin and leaning into Ben. “it’s his couch too.” I added, glancing towards Buddy.
“ Are you sure?” Ben asked. He stopped waving his hand and I felt him pulling me closer till my side and shoulder was touching his body.
“Yes, it is okay. I love him, he is just trying to be part of this.” I was looking at Buddy and automatically reached out a hand to pat him.
“Do you mean, he wants to be part of our date?” Ben asked, practically whispering into my left ear. His breath tickled.
My left hand jerked to cover my ear. And I turned my head to peek at him. He was so close, and peering down at me, smiling a smile. His eyes were full of tenderness and lust. Him tug me closer again.
“Yes.” I gasped, feeling like I could not get enough air. I wanted to look away but this was what I wanted. I could not kiss someone if I didn’t force myself to look at them.
“Is it okay I hug you?” Ben asked, he was searching my eyes, the smile had faded slightly. His word held a note of worry.
I nodded, but added, “It’s fine.” But I shivered, a involuntary reaction.
“Are you cold still?” He asked, now with concern.
“Just a little.” I thought of something, and forced my leg and hands to move closer to his body. They were legitimately cold still. I tucked my hands in between my leg and his.Available now!

Not Alone
“I was looking at the water in the rain.” She said deciding which excuse to use. “All the lights reflecting in it. Isn’t it beautiful?” Her voice trailed off. Her eyes went past his face to the street light and the sprinkles dancing in that ring of light around it. The beauty of it all. She could see it now. It reached down deep inside of her and hurt her somehow. Her outburst disappeared. So, he had saved her. He did not know. He could not understand.
“You do this often?” He asked. He did not believe a word.
A car approached driving fast. It was gone as quickly as it had come. It left only silence. His grip relaxed in that silence. But he held on with one hand to her left arm, watching her closely.
“ let me get this straight. You came here to see the river in the rain at 2 AM ?” He was not asking a question. He was stating a fact to fill up the silence that had penetrated the space between them. she had left him somehow. She had left her body and was not there anymore. Her body was there, her arm was still in his grip. She was flesh and blood under layers of material, but her mind was elsewhere. he resisted the desire to shake her arm, to bring her back somehow.
Kia was at home again in the silence of her own head. She was in the nothingness an emptiness that filled her and consumed her. There was nothing left of the anger that she had portrayed a few moments before. So what? He had stopped her. What did it matter anyways?
“Yes.” She agreed with his statement. For that sentence was hanging there in the air with the raindrops that were brushing her face. “Isn’t it beautiful? I mean the rain.“ she asked.
He looked to where she was looking. He could see the streetlight and the raindrops that shown within that light. The raindrops were falling like silver stars fallen to earth. They were falling so slowly and silently.
The spell broke as a sound of another car approached. Glistening, it came into sight over the peak of the bridge. It was a police car. It came slowly, carefully observing the two of them standing so close together in the mist. The car pulled parallel to them and stopped. Kia sought but she did not move. A power window buzzed, as it rolled down. A deep voice came from within.
“Everything all right here?“ A middle-aged officer leaned across the passenger seat. He peered at the two suspiciously. He saw a young couple. Two white people in their 20s. The girl was 5 foot sixish and very well bundled up. All he could see was a pale unmade yet beautiful face with dark wisps of hair showing around the edges. but there was something wrong with her. She is out of this world. Was she high on some thing, he wondered to himself. The guy looked very much there, sober, sharp, and a few years older than the girl. He was over 6 feet with uncovered hair and dark eyes. He had the appearance of a protector. He was standing half in front of her and was gripping her arm, as if he were afraid someone might hurt her. Or he was afraid she might run away. The tall young man’s eyes narrowed as he looked directly at the officer. They seem to say “You are not welcome here, please leave.” -

The Day the Skyfel: Shadows of the Past
Cameron froze. He abruptly understood. He quickly dropped the shirt back in place, covering the chest, arm, and upper body before him. The individual before him was not a boy. It was a girl. Cameron’s brain sped in circles, and his heart was beating faster. Why did she look so familiar then? This was a girl, not a boy, a girl. Suddenly, Cameron had a name to go with the face.
Sophia knew the moment he knew. Everything around her froze, and Cameron stopped talking. And then the shirt covered her chest again. It covered her arm too. Sophia did not know if she could even open her eyes to look at him. She felt so exhausted she could not move her head or arm anymore. It still lay over her bosom. It was over. Cameron had figured out she was not a boy. And it was not long before he worked out who she was too.
“Sophia?” It had only taken a minute. Cameron could not believe it. But it had to be her. That is why her face was so familiar. Sophia. The first girl who made him interested enough to wonder. It was her. She was here inside his house, so sick and so damaged. But she was here in flesh and blood. Cameron still had time to save her. He touched her face. It felt as if it were porcelain. Sophia’s skin was so cool.
“Sophia, I will not hurt you. Please open your eyes.” He whispered.
Sophia obeyed with significant effort. It had grown dim in the room, and Cameron was further away. She tried to open her mouth but only made a crack. She tried to say “please” but only a whispering sound came out. Cameron’s heart ached. Sophia was so sick. He knew time was short. Cameron had to get her on fluids and antibiotics now, or it would be too late. Sophia was dyinAvailable Now!

On the Hill
“Miranda,” he whispered. It sent goosebumps down my arms. He was slowly rubbing my back in circles. I turned to look into his eyes. “Just because he touched you and kissed you doesn’t mean he took your firsts. He forced himself on you. He didn’t love you. He doesn’t count.” Erik’s left hand took my left hand and squeezed it.
“Do you believe that? Because I feel disgusting and destroyed.” I looked away again and sobbed. The pain was acute.
“Miranda! Don’t think like that.” He rocked me forward to touch his forehead to mine. “You have been injured, not destroyed.”
“You are sweet,” I whispered.
“Are you going to let me take you inside now?” he asked softly. He had both of my hands again.
“Yes.” I pulled my head into an upright position. “I am ready.” He insisted on having me wait while he ran around, opened my door and took my hand in one of his, and wrapped his other hand and arm around my back. I was sick to my stomach with worry. What would they do? Would Stan find out I was here?
“You know,” I whispered while we walked towards the entrance. “He threatened to kill me if I reported it and anyone who helped me.” I was having trouble getting one foot in front of another.
“I’m not scared of him,” Erik said softly. “Besides. I’m a black belt.” He squeezed my left hand and pulled me tighter against his side.
“As long as you are prepared. He told me these things before I got away from him. I haven’t looked at what he has texted me.” We had almost made it; I was staring down at my feet.
“You can show it to the police.” Erik replied, rubbing my back.
I glanced up at him, blushing. “I wasn’t going to report it.” I whispered. I looked away.
Erik was shocked. “Miranda, you need to report it! He’s a danger to society. He will do it again. He needs to be off the streets.”Available now!

“Moment by Moment”
Finally, hunger overtook the fluffy cat, and he inched closer to Justin. Food and someone he knew and his mother’s voice calling from the outside. He was so close now that Justin could almost reach him. But he didn’t move he didn’t breathe. His phone buzzed again. Justin closed his eyes. Who was it and what did they want? The only person he cared about was Katherine. In his mind he saw her. She was on the couch where he had put her. What was wrong? Why was she texting him? He tried to see around her. His pocket buzzed again, jolting him. He opened his eyes. Snookie was closer now, inches away from his hand, happily gobbling up the bits of treats.
Justin made one quick move and grabbed the cat by the scruff. “Got him!” He said, but not too loudly. Snookie made a “Meow!” sound but didn’t try to scratch or bite Justin. Justin wiggled his body backward, dragging the cat with him. When he was far enough out, he got his other hand up and grabbed the cat with both hands and at once pulled him out and handed him up to the waiting hands of Mrs. McQueen.
She took him, cooing over him and thanking Justin at the same time. “Oh, my baby, my sweetheart. Thank you, Justin.”
Justin nodded and closed his eyes, reached back inside for the flashlight and treats. His hands found them. But a vision struck his brain. In it, Katherine was huddled terrified on the couch, and there was a shadow over her, reaching for her. He turned to see who it was. He knew instinctively then what he had not been able to in the dark spider-infested hole under the house. Matthew had gotten to Katherine. He pulled the treats and flashlight out, leaving them at the entrance to the hatch.
“I am sorry, Mrs. McQueen; I’ve got to go!” He said quickly as he got to his feet. “Now! It’s an emergency!” He said, not stopping or even looking at her. “I’ll be back for the cookies!” He said as an afterthought.
Mrs. McQueen stared after him; when he had rounded the corner and disappeared, she shook her head. “What are we going to do without him, Snookie?” she said, burying her face in the soft fur.Now Available

“The Day the Skyfel: Ground Zero”
“I don’t suppose there is a pharmacy around?” Ana asked softly.
“Do you mean for a test?” Leo looked down at her, and she nodded, but she was not looking at him. “I am sure this is Stinson beach. And I doubt there is one. But there is a community store. I would love to check it out. Also, I was hoping to find a cart or wheelbarrow. That would make it much easier to move you and some supplies further in a day.”
Ana glanced up at him. “Do you think we should just stay here?” Ana was willing to forget about their home, at least for now.
Leo was silent for a while. But he realized they had prepared a hundred million dollar stockpile of supplies for the current situation. They would have electricity, running water, hot water, a way to wash clothes, and a heater for the coming winter. It would have been even nicer if they had more time, but money had done a lot. And the supplies and unique water and electricity sources were all locked up with several security codes. The workers may know the stuff was on the property, but there was no way to break in.
“Ana, considering what we were able to do in the last three weeks and remembering it is locked up unharmed, just waiting for us, I think it would be best to ponder working our way back in that direction. It may take us a month or two. I wish there were something that I could put you on that could move.” He looked away, not wanting her to feel a burden.
“It is too bad there are no horses, mules, donkeys, or ponies around,” Ana said absentmindedly.https://books2read.com/b/Day-the-skyfel-Ground-Zero

“Rightly Wrong or Wrongly Right”
Dean noticed the glance and paused the movie again. “Okay,” He was smiling again. “I have to know. What are you thinking about now?”
Adara blushed. “Just about you.” She explained, attempting to hide her eyes.
“What about me?” He asked. “Come on; I want to know.” He tickled her side.
She let out a giggle and tried to move away. She was on her side now. “Stop!” she tried to push Dean away.
“Not unless you tell me!” Dean explained, tickling her on both sides, leaning over her, pinning her lightly to the bed. He had promised to keep her quiet. But he was getting excited now. Either he was going to get an answer or initiate lovemaking.
“Okay,” shrieked Adara, “Okay.”
Dean stopped tickling her but didn’t let her up. “I’m listening.”
“I was thinking about Jody’s husband,” Adara confessed, wiggling a little, trying to get out from under him.
“Oh, so now you like him more than me?” Dean inquired, but he was joking.
“No! You are better looking.” She covered one of her cheeks, and she could feel it burning. “And you are sweeter and more caring.”
Dean gazed at her, rubbing her back in little circles. He climbed over her so that he could look into her eyes, but he kept his left hand on the curve of her back. “So.” He mumbled softly, nose to nose with her, “What you’re saying is maybe she’s jealous of me?” His hand was over her buttocks now.
She nodded. But she was looking at Dean’s mouth. “Aren’t we going to finish watching the movie?” she asked, trying to be calm. But the sensations hit her stomach and traveled between her legs in waves. She bit her lip.
“I don’t know,” Dean replied; his heart was pounding, and he had the intense desire to take off his pants. “I can just tell you how it ends later.” his hand was now slipping between her legs.
Adara closed her eyes and opened her mouth. Dean accepted it a sign of consent, and their lips locked.https://books2read.com/b/rightlywrongorwronglyright
