“Moment by Moment”
Justin realized she would not stop if he called again. So, he didn’t bother spending his breath. He could not believe it. Brenda had been able to get up from the table without him realizing it was about to occur or glimpsing her as she departed. What was wrong with him! It had to be because he was intentionally blocking her out of his mind. Otherwise, it would have never come about this way. He had known about the plan, of course. As with all things concerning Katherine, he saw them within a few days to a few minutes before events materialized. The bigger the situation, the further out he saw it.
He had known a few days about the SUV. He began scanning the parking lot. It had to be here somewhere already. Seeing nothing, he turned his eyes back towards Katherine. He had almost caught up to her. Only a few more feet, and he could grab her if needed or push her out of the way. Whichever worked better.
They were at the car. It was at the back of the lot and to the right. Katherine could see the bumper. She only had to cross the blacktop one more time. She didn’t pause. She didn’t stop or look from side to side. Instead, she beelined towards the car with renewed speed.
Suddenly it was there. The SUV was black with tinted windows and blaring music came bumping from within. The sun was behind the trees, and it was getting dark in this corner of the parking lot. It was headed straight for her at 40 miles per hour. It was 5 feet away. Katherine saw it too late to do anything. It was going to hit her head on.
Suddenly a force whacked her from behind. It was Justin, but she could not see him. With the momentum she already had and the added velocity of Justin’s speed and weight, they made it out of the way of the SUV with inches to spare. As Justin shoved her out of the way, he wrapped her bare arms tightly in his and twisted his body sideways. When they landed on the concrete in-between two cars, he absorbed the impact with his body. He didn’t even care. He had managed to save her from being hit, and that was all that mattered. Now Available

“The Day the Skyfel: Ground Zero”
He began to lay out pieces of paper on the table. They were diagrams of the body with lines pointing to distinct areas. “These are the implants.” He pointed. “The major ones are the charging port, the brain control, and the chest plate, but there are one hundred and fifty implants we have discovered. The Skycendelvins are biological androids, they appear human on the outside, but inside, they have so many mechanisms that they are more machine than organic. For example, the humanoid unit would stop functioning altogether without charging.”
He looked up for a moment. “Any question so far?”
Ana’s eyes were huge, and she felt like she was in shock. But she held out a shaking hand. “Do they put those implants in humans? They change us to them?”
Gerald could see Ana’s mother in her mannerisms. He sadly smiled as he had loved her mother. But Becca had not felt more than friendship for him. “Yes. They find a target and change them over time—unfortunately, Mrs. Turner is a primary host or ground zero for this particular scout.” He turned to Leo. “I am sorry.”
Leo shrugged. “It’s a scare, but I have accepted it.” He added. “Is Madeleine the scout?”
Mr. Abbott sat back in his seat, smirking a little. “Mr. Turner, if you had been on my team years ago, we wouldn’t be here now.” He shook his head.
He sighed and sat forward again. He shifted the papers around. Then he set out a few more sheets. “Yes. Madeleine is the origin. Mrs. Turner is host zero, or in Skycendelvin, the word translates to class Alpha. She and Madeline assembled the portal, and it is somewhere in the city. They are close to invasion. There are other scouts and hosts on the planet—nineteen total. There are three more in the USA, one in New York City, Chicago, and one in Los Angeles.”https://books2read.com/b/Day-the-skyfel-Ground-Zero

“Open the Door, Let the Sun In”
But she couldn’t tell Blake; he was dangerous and sharp, like glass. He was a little like she was, only different, not patient, not kind, more volatile. She knew what she was up against, the emotions inside her head, living and marrying someone she didn’t love, and having a child who belonged to another. But he didn’t know everything he was fighting; his enemies were in his memory locked up in a disorder that left every day a challenge, living on the brink.
Today might be the day his sanity would slip; if she told him, he might go over the edge and kill himself. How could she do that to someone, no matter who? She couldn’t; it was all he had. He had stated a child was all he ever wanted. She was doing this in the first place, living this lie, to give him purpose to live. He had threatened suicide if it wasn’t his, and Lea had agreed to the lie.
Tears seeped through her closed eyes, and she opened them. Yellow sunlight was coming in the window, past the curtains. It was getting late. It was afternoon; how late was it now? 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, It would be dark again soon. She had slept the day away, or she had tried too.
Soon night would come, and she would see Darren. She didn’t mind the oncoming darkness; she hated sunlight. It hurt her eyes. Let it be darkened forever. In the evening, Lea could hide. She didn’t mind winter or sleeping the daylight away. She would always work the night shift; the others didn’t want to.https://books2read.com/Open-the-door-let-the-sun-in

“Rightly Wrong or Wrongly Right”
“But they won’t let you come back to me. You know that. Your family has kept you in a cage your whole life, and they will put you right back in it as soon as they get you back inside the door.” He announced frustratedly. He knew it was too late, and she had made up her mind.
Then, she left his bed and returned to the living room for her clothes. She changed right in front of him, causing him additional biological distress as he caught a glimpse of all the parts of her physique that he wanted so badly to taste and kiss and retain by his side for all eternity.
He sat down on his sofa, chin in his hands, resisting the urge to pick something up, and hit himself over the head in hopes that he would forget the preceding few hours. It had worked for her. But soon, she was dressed and prepared to go to the mansion.
He felt he headed to the end of the world and that he was saying goodbye to her permanently as they sat across the road from her family’s mansion in the small visitor’s parking lot. It was just before 7 am, and the sun was about to rise above the eastern hills. “We could still go back to my place.” He mumbled. He wanted to beg her not to do it. But it felt wrong, too selfish and possessive. Adara had the freedom to do as she wished. He did not own her, and she was an adult. So very adult, he thought, thinking about the activities they had performed in his bedroom. Dean felt hot and looked away from her face.
“I have to do this. If it were just my mother and the housekeepers, I would not care. But Marshall has been like an uncle or father to me. I need to let Marshall know I’m alive and okay.” She explained, touching his arm. “I promise I won’t allow them to put me back in my box. I will come back to you.”https://books2read.com/b/rightlywrongorwronglyright

The Day the Skyfel: Shadows of the Past
It took ten minutes for Sophia to get out of Winters. Time no longer meant anything to Sophia. There was no time, only now, this second. There was only her moving through the panic to get home. There was no one else. She was alone in this place. She was moving west slowly. She would make it home.
The mountains were in front of her when her car stopped. The engine died in mid motion at 60 MPH. Sophia heard the silence and felt the car slow. She pushed the gas pedal. Nothing happened. She floored it. The car continued to slow. She came to a dead stop at the point in the road that the highway turned south.
Sophia looked at the clock. The dial was dead, no time was visible She tried the radio. This was also dead. She turned the key, took it out, and tried to start the engine again; nothing happened. Sophia felt panic for the first time, absolute terror. Before this, she had been numb; she had felt nothing except the determination to get home and blankness. Now she felt sick. She was going to throw up, she knew she would. She was miles from home and her car was dead. What was wrong with her vehicle? Why wouldn’t it run? It was only a few years old, and the gas tank had been full. Even the battery was dead. There was no clock and no radio. What was she going to do? She was here in the middle of nowhere without any means of transportation. She could not trust anyone. Everyone here in this new world was dangerous. There was no way to get home.
She wanted to cry. Her throat constricted and she covered her mouth. But she could not cry; the tears would not come. Her hand moved up, under her sunglasses, to cover her eyes. She took several deep breaths slowly.
“So what?” Something in her spoke. She could almost hear the words. “So, you do not have a car. You still have legs, don’t you?” Sophia moved her hand and opened her eyes. Yes, she had legs. She could walk. she could walk all the way home. It would take her days. She would have to be incredibly careful, not to be seen by anyone. She could do it. All she had to do was head out in the general direction, west. Following the road would take too long. The road meandered all around and headed too far south. It would be quicker to go straight west, and home.Available June 15th

“On the Hill”
Erik came back in with buster at this point. I was not happy, and he could tell. He came straight to me and crouched in front of me.
“Miranda?” He asked, taking my hand.
I looked up at him. I had tears in my eyes. He brushed a few away. “Guess what?” I asked with a sad smile on my lips.
“What?” He asked, brushing away more tears.
“My mom took the note,” I whispered, looking down At my hand in his.
“Did she say that?” He asked softly. He was brushing my hair back now.
I nodded. “She said she threw it away. She said you don’t deserve me.“
“Well, now we know.” He said. He shook his head slightly. And he kissed my hand. “Did she say why?”
Then I looked up into his eyes. “She is….” I wasn’t sure how to say it. “She doesn’t like….”
“You can tell me later, Miranda. You do not have to tell me now.” He said softly. He had moved onto the couch as he spoke. He wrapped an arm around me.
“She is racist.” I gasped. I was sobbing now—my mother, judging people on where they were born. I couldn’t believe it.
“I say it’s more likely she didn’t want to lose you. Or did she say something about race specifically?” Erik asked after another kiss.
I shuddered. “She mentioned where your dad was born.” I gasped.
He wrapped his other arm around me and kissed me. “Don’t cry about it, Miranda. She’s a different generation.”Available now!
