“Moment by Moment”
She was back on her feet and dragging her blue dress out of the closet by the time her mom came back. “I got all three of them! It is amazing. Not one voicemail! Mark is at someone’s house. He said he was going to bring some girl. I do not recall hearing the name before. It started with B, something like Briana. I don’t know.”
Katherine looked at her sharply. “Not Brenda?” She said, feeling suddenly very numb all over.
“I don’t know. It might have been. Why, do you know her?”
Katherine gulped and managed to get out a “Yeah, I do.” Brenda? At dinner? She had a vision flash through her mind. Brenda was sitting across the table from Katherine and glaring at her. But she didn’t know that for sure. She honestly didn’t even know her mom was speaking about Brenda. There had to be a lot of other girls at her school with names that started with B. There probably was a Briana. But Katherine had a sinking feeling. She felt something else was coming. Something that she had been sensing the last couple of days. And that thing was coming closer with each moment.
Her mom was looking at her. “Don’t you like her?” She asked.
Katherine tried to calm herself down enough to speak and answer. “She’s okay.” She lied. “I guess. I do not know her. She’s Debbi’s friend.” Her mom was still looking at her, waiting for more information. “I don’t think she likes me very much.”
“Why not? What has she said to you?” Her mom was not happy now, and she was now in mom mode. Her hands were on her hips.
Katherine did not want to go into that. She didn’t want to say any more on the subject. But her mom was standing there waiting. “Not much, I guess.” Katherine decided to lie. It was easier. She couldn’t very well say, “Mom, she made me cry at school the other day. Mom, she hates me. I know she does. Mom, I can’t go to dinner if she is there.”
“Well,” her mom uncrossed her arms. “Maybe you’re wrong. Or she needs to get to know you better. This may be just what the two of you need.” Her mom was happy again. She smiled. “I see you found that dress. You’ve never worn it anywhere before,Now Available

“The Day the Skyfel: Ground Zero”
“So she is gone early?” Ana asked. She figured as much, but she wanted to get her mind off his eyes.
Leo nodded. He wanted to tell her about the paperwork. But he figured that he had told her enough already. “Oh yes, it took me a few minutes to get here. She left so early. I believe Julianne was outraged this morning and needed to get out the door. She had to make it to the courthouse by 8:30 am.” He smiled.
“Why was she angry? Nothing to do with me, I hope.” However, she did not discern how it could have been about her and not been fired by her.
Leo smirked. “I promise it has nothing to do with you. If you want to know, I’ll tell you.”
“Well, considering she is my,” she listened for a second and motioned Leo to close the door, “target,” she whispered the last word, “maybe you ought to tell me.”
“I can guarantee it had nothing to do with that either. I just happened to have Alfred give her the paperwork this morning, the divorce paperwork.” Leo grinned.
“Oh!” Ana felt stunned. But he had been talking about it repeatedly. Ana thought she ought to have comprehended.
“Yes, and she did not bother me, but Alfred sent me some details about what she said. She thinks I should want to stay married to her despite her infidelity and lack of physical contact. I kid you not; it has been two years since she let me kiss, hug or touch her. Do you want to know the date?” He inquired.
“Ah well,” Ana looked embarrassed. “If you want to tell me while I grab my shoes and phone.” And she turned and limped to the closet.https://books2read.com/b/Day-the-skyfel-Ground-Zero

Autobiography
I will write a little story. About a woman who thought she wasn’t enough. She was late thirties but life forgot her. Her father had divorced her mother before she was born. He never tried to call her, never sent her a card or present. Her mom was emotionally distant. She told her daughter she was like the sister she never had. Her mom was a hoarder and didn’t take care of the house or cook often. She had to take care of her mom from a young age. She never had a birthday party, graduation, baby shower or wedding. She was homeschooled never went to a dance or party. She never had a best friend. No girl was ever there for her. No boy ever asked her out, she was scared of boys scared to talk first. Her first relationship was a man she met through pen palling. She married him. She gave her ex everything and got only lies and betrayal. She lost her baby alone, emergency C-section but he died before they could get him out. Her ex was in jail. Her ex took her car and smashed it while intoxicated. She cried for her car. He never let her forget. She gave him three sons. He lied cheated and stole from her. He smashed the walls, her computer and the tv. He gave her a bloody nose, threatened to kill her if she left, put his hands around her throat, accused her of cheating, screamed at her for hours, blamed her for everything and used illicit substances. Finally she left him and took the kids. Still she was alone. Alone with three boys and an aging mother who didn’t know how to live alone. The woman suffered from fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, chonic fatigue, chronic depression, anxiety, PSTD, and self harm. Her middle child was on the spectrum and had sever OCD. Her oldest had bad anxiety and anger issues and her youngest was hyper sensitive and had health issues. Her mother began to show signs of dementia and mental deterioration. But she wouldn’t go to the doctor. And still the woman struggled on, terrified of people, so lonely all she wanted was to be loved unconditionally. Her mother never had. Her ex hadn’t. And her children depended on her. She still had no friends. She has no money, living on credit and financial aid. When she worked her self harm was bad before her marriage. Now it was bad just trying to go to the store made her want to give up for good. Walking outside the front door gave her anxiety. But all she wanted was a hug. It had been years a years. All she wanted was a kiss. It had been years and years. And all she wanted was a warm male body beside her in the bed. She hadn’t even been able to sleep with her ex. She had slept on the floor because he was so controlling.

“Open the Door, Let the Sun In”
She focused on him. Suddenly, She was thinking about the past. Lea didn’t know how he had glimpsed her so much nor how she had not noticed him. Finally, she asked. “Did you care about me that much?” She sat up a little straighter in the bath. “I mean, you didn’t think about me every day, did you?”
Darren tilted his head. He picked up her hand from the bathwater and kissed it. “Every day since I moved in with my brother for over two years now, I would wake up, and I would look out the window towards your house. And every night before I went to bed, I would look out the window towards your home. And I would pray each time for God’s forgiveness for not having the strength to speak to you. And I would pray for the power to talk to you next time I saw you.”
She stared at him wide-eyed. “Every day? “She gasped
Darren nodded. “it was part of my routine. Sometimes during the day, I would see you. And sometimes, weeks would go by without any sign of you. But no matter what, I would always pray twice a day about us.”
She felt as if she would cry. But, instead, she forced herself to ask, “what stopped you?”
“fear, anxiety, I thought maybe you might have a boyfriend that wasn’t around. I didn’t want to be creepy or invade your personal space. Every time I saw you, I prayed you would look at me and smile. But of course, you never did.” Darren was rubbing his hand along her arm. There was a lump in his throat.
“I’m sorry.” She mumbled it in a melancholy tone. “I wish I had seen you and smiled.” A tear slipped down her face. “I am sorry I didn’t.”
“Lea, don’t cry.” He whispered. His tears threatened to fall. “We’re together now. That’s all that matters. And you’re getting better every day. “https://books2read.com/Open-the-door-let-the-sun-in

“Rightly Wrong or Wrongly Right”
He looked at her searchingly. “You don’t remember any of the night?”
She shook her head. But Adara was distracted; he was talking again. He was so sweet. And he smelled so good. Had Dean used more cologne? And his voice, Adara could listen to him speak forever. She forgot her distress as she realized she was in love. She sighed.
Dean mistook her sigh for one of sadness. “I promise, Adara. I’ll help you remember, okay?” She was gazing at him. It made him uncomfortable somehow. He tried to change the subject.
“Look, here are the pills. I want you to take two.” He held the bottle with one hand and shook two out. Dean tried to hand them to her. Looking at her face, he realized she had her mouth open like a child. He hesitated but finally put them in her mouth.
Her lips were soft and warm. Adara partially closed them around his fingers, startling him. He looked at her face. Adara gazed back at him strangely as if she had a fever. He removed his hand from her mouth and felt her throat. Her temperature seemed normal. Dean experienced another shock as he held his fingers to her throat. She reached her hand up to his, running her fingers down his wrist and his arm, slowly watching his face.
Something in his gut told him what was wrong with her. His whole body felt a jolt. He wanted it too but was this the right time? He tried to pull his hand away. But Adara grabbed his wrist. He removed his left hand that held the ice from her head and twisted it to see the time on his watch. It was twenty-two minutes to midnight. Dean thought a second, trying to ignore the throbbing he felt. But he felt both her hands on his; she pulled them slowly towards her body and the dress. Dean dropped the ice and gave into her lead.https://books2read.com/b/rightlywrongorwronglyright

The Day the Skyfel: Shadows of the Past
The La Rue intersection at the corner of the campus was littered with chunks and pieces of vehicles. Someone was standing in the middle of the road. He was in the only space available to navigate her car around the obstacles without hitting one. He was waving her down, asking her to halt. Sophia’s foot hit the accelerator. She just missed clipping him as he leaped out of the way, screaming at her, and waving a fist.
Sophia almost made it out of town; she arrived at the overpass of route 113 and brought her vehicle to a dead standstill. The overpass leading over route 113 was missing. In its place was an enormous heap of debris blocking Highway 113 in both directions. Sophia didn’t get out of her car to gape down at the damaged or the ruined cars, not the hurt, dead, or dying people. There were other automobiles positioned about. Persons were standing about, obstructing the entrance to head north on 113. In an abrupt motion, Sophia put her car in reverse, backed up, then went forward, completing a three-point turn.
Heading back the way she had come, she took a turn on Sycamore, ignoring the traffic signal. No cars were moving her direction from the campus. There were several vehicles littering the street. They had been victims of a car wreck or had been abandoned by their occupants in panic, curiosity, or pure shock. She made it up Sycamore without incident. She broke several more traffic laws, but no one seemed to notice. Everyone was preoccupied with other activities. Some individuals were screaming; a few were crying. Many were running in panic or standing in the middle of the road in shock and disbelief.Available June 15th
