“The Day the Skyfel: Ground Zero” snippet
They were at Mr. Turner’s door now. He opened it and beckoned her inside. She entered as he asked. “So if you woke up tomorrow and could do anything you wanted to do, would you stay in California?”
“Yes, I think so, maybe not the city. I like it better as you go north.” But, again, she had said the wrong thing. Amanda had not been much more north than where she was now. She bit her cheek.
“North bay or further north?” Leonard asked; he was making mental notes now.
She glanced at him. “Either, I like fewer people around and less activity.”
Again her eyes caused something to happen inside Leonard. He put his hand on his abdomen. Yes, that was it. Amanda was giving him butterflies. “I do too.” He found himself saying. And it was true. It had been Julianne that had wanted to live in the middle of the city.
“Do you want me to sit on your couch?” Amanda was still looking at him, but she gestured.
“I want to show you the view before the food gets here.” He explained, pointing to the balcony. He had a feeling Amanda would appreciate it. Julianne never had.
“OK.” She replied and nodded. Again she checked in on her insides. Amanda was a little surprised; her emotions were not numb anymore; Amanda found she was enjoying herself. It had been years and years since her last personal conversation. No, that was not right. Amanda had a lot of conversations. What did she mean? It was Ana that had not had a conversation recently. Yes, but she was Amanda.Available now!!

“Open the Door, Let the Sun In” snippet
“She has anxiety and depression, and she thinks people don’t like her, and she’s introverted,” Darren explained. “she suffered a lot of injuries, and I brought her home with me. She can walk now, but I doubt that she left the house. Instead, she probably went upstairs because she feared meeting you.” Darren was thinking aloud now.
Blake wasn’t following the story and thought maybe his brother was high, but he pointed towards the stairs. “OK, then let’s go upstairs.”
The brothers headed to the stairs and began to climb them. “I think she probably went into our bedroom, but if she didn’t, she could be anywhere,” Darren explained, gesturing upwards. “I think you two might get along, But she had a bad dream, and she got so upset she is scared of you.”
“She had a dream? About me?” Blake was listening now.
“Yes,” Darren said, regretting he said it. They were upstairs now, and he wanted to listen for Lea.
“what was it about?” Blake asked. The girl had already been dreaming about him!
“Oh, you were being mean to her, her words not mine. She found you in our room, and she ran down the stairs to get away from you.” Darren explained as he searched his and Lea’s bedroom.
Blake smirked. He and the girl were in the bedroom, and she feared him. Just the way he liked his women. “Oh. That is too bad. I feel sorry for her.” He lied.Click link to read more

“Rightly Wrong or Wrongly Right” snippet:
They pulled up behind Marshall and stopped a few feet behind the limo. Dean realized then that Adara was shaking. “Adara.” He murmured, touching her arm. “If you can’t do this….”
“I have to.” She replied firmly. She opened her door then, unbuckling her seat belt and stepping outside. Dean quickly followed, worried she would trip or fall. But she didn’t. She walked up to Marshall, Dean, a few steps behind her.
Marshall didn’t move and remained silent as she approached. He didn’t smile or open his arms for a hug. Adara stopped, two feet from him, peering up into the older man’s face. She didn’t say hi, or any type of greeting. Instead, she spoke. “Marshall, I remembered something today. I remembered something from ten years ago.”
Marshall nodded. “Yes, milady. I thought you might.”
“Marshall. Did you and Dania kill my father?” Adara asked this question in a strong, unwavering voice.
Marshall inhaled and exhaled, slowly and deliberately. “It wasn’t so simple as that.” He replied.
“Yes or no, please, Marshall. Did he die that night, and did you or Dania do it?” Adara stared up at him.Available now:

Snippet from “moment by moment”
She smacked into the door with great force. The glass shook in her hands and the door shot outward with a thud. Somehow, she managed not to break it. “Ma’am?” said the greeter, after jumping and clutching her chest. “Ma’am!!” But Katherine didn’t stop, not at her voice nor the pain in her hands from the door. She started running again.
Justin was not far behind. He would have caught her arm in front of the door if it had not chosen that moment to slam in his face. The door had come back at him so fast. It was not designed for this rough treatment. He jumped back, and it stuck fast in the doorway. It stopped him there for a full thirty seconds. Justin was strong, but one of the hinges had broken in the process and would not budge.
But Justin knew what was coming. “She’s running straight for it.” He thought. He could see Katherine run to the curb and stop, looking back at him. He summoned all his strength and switching tactics; he pulled inward instead of pushing. The door moved then. Katherine saw this and started running again. Justin didn’t waste any time. The greeter was approaching him from behind, trying to get his attention. But he ignored her and started after Katherine just as she disappeared around the corner.
Katherine was having trouble hurrying. Her feet had already been hurt, and one of her ankles had twisted a little on the first sprint. And now she was jogging sluggishly. She knew Justin would catch up to her. And she was not running from him, not precisely. She was running from Brenda, from the women that had heard the story, and from the story itself. If only she could get to the car and beyond before he caught her. He could hold her then, safe from prying eyes. Or she was running from him. A little tiny part of her believed Brenda’s story might be true, the smallest part of her.Available June 5th

Moment by moment excerpt
She reached her car hastily. She often backed her vehicle into place, so her driver’s side opening overlooked the grove of trees. Her keys were somewhere in her backpack. She could not locate them. She frantically started to search. Her opened backpack fell to the ground.
She groaned. Stooping down, she started to shove items that had fallen out back into the pocket. Papers were everywhere. The trees appeared to darken. The commotion of honks, shouts, and voices of Katherine’s schoolmates faded away. She suffered from weakness and low blood sugar again. Her keys were someplace. Where were they? There they were. Katherine’s fingers clutched the cold metal near the bottom of her backpack. She yanked the keys out.
From behind her came a disturbance. She listened to the crunch of shoes on the earth and rock that made up the ground beyond the edge of the pavement. She froze, paying attention to the sound. The noise came closer, and the familiar voice spoke.
“I won’t let Brenda hurt you, Katherine.” He uttered. The sound was virtually as quiet as the breeze passing through the leaves over her head.
Katherine snatched the door handle and utilized it to heave herself to her feet. She felt the panic leave. But it was replaced by resentment. Katherine spoke sternly, “how long will you stay? Thirty seconds? A whole minute? How did you know about Brenda anyways?”
She began to put the keys into the lock. Then she stopped, gawking at the car window. Behind her reflection, which she could discern all too plainly, she could see a portion of another person. It was merely the top of his head, his hair. But she could observe that the hair was deep brown or black and cut short. She gulped, abruptly nervous. Here was reality, not a voice in the evening in the back of her mind. Not a dream, not her imagination but a living, breathing humanAvailable may 5, 2022

Abruptly the whiskey bottle came flying at Darren’s head. Darren must make a choice, turn and run down the stairs and hope Blake didn’t come flying downstairs or drop his bag and fight. Usually, Darren was not one to fight. The only person he ever really had fought was his brother. But he did like to run and to weight lift. And his reflexes were quick. Besides, he wasn’t drunk like Blake. So, he stood his ground.
Blake swore explicitly when the bottle flew past Darren. He was tired and seeing double. Blake threw the bottle at the other Darren, thinking it was real. But he was wrong. And now Blake would have to stop Darren himself. And he was feeling sluggish. But Blake had to do it. So he put his head down and charged at Darren, screaming.
Darren saw Blake head sideways, so he stepped to one side and let him smash into the door frame of the middle bedroom. He smiled, hearing the crack of his head on the wood.
But Blake wasn’t done yet. He managed to get to his feet one more time, turned, and lunged at Darren. This time Blake went to grab him around the waist, but Darren was ready for him. He put up a knee, and it caught Blake in the face. Blake bounced backward, hitting the door again, this time with the back of his head. Blake did not get up again. Darren shook his head, bent over him, and watched to make sure he was breathing. -

He turned his bedroom light back off. “And you’re sure you won’t use the bathroom? I don’t mind.” He gestured one more time towards the bathroom.
“No. I’m okay”. Adara replied, not looking up at him.
“I can show you how to lock it.” He spoke. Adara didn’t glance at him. He pointed at the bathroom. Then he moved inside, beckoning. “Look, I’ll show you.” Adara didn’t know what to say, so she stayed silent, looking at the bathroom door. “You have to come inside.” He said, gesturing to her from inside the bathroom. “I know there isn’t much space.”
She stepped inside, and Dean began to shut the door. Adara could feel her heart rate speed up. Her skin felt tingly, all she could smell was his cologne, and all she could hear was their breathing. All she could feel was the energy and body heat coming off him. They were alone in a cramped space. The car had been different; she could see the world outside the windows. But there was only a tiny, frosted window in this room. Adara felt like she would faint. She tried to pay attention as he showed her how to lock the door. But her brain was screaming nonsense.
After showing her twice, he looked at her. “You try it.” He spoke.
She blinked a couple of times and did a couple of deep breaths, trying to catch her breath. But he was looking at her, and she could smell him and hear his breathing. She tried, but she couldn’t shake the feeling they were the only two people left in the universe.
